FIRST COMMUNION CLASS OF 2012:
Beginning this year, First Communion will be celebrated on the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. This year the feast falls on June 9/10th.
Letters were mailed to eligible candidates for this important sacrament if you meet the following criteria:
1) you are a baptized Catholic in 2nd grade or older and
2) you are registered in the Faith Formation program or in St. Anne School, and
3) You have completed at least 1 year of formal religious education.

TEACHING TOUCHING SAFETY is the name of the class that is taught once a year to all parish children K5-12th grade. This is not sex education, but a part of the church’s comprehensive Safe Environment education program. Both the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People and the Policy of the Diocese of Charleston Concerning Allegations of Sexual Misconduct or Abuse of a Minor by Church Personnel mandate that the children of our parish and school receive prevention education. Our Diocese has chosen the VIRTUS “Teaching Touching Safety”
program. This year’s lesson is Touching Safety Rules: Safe Friends, Safe Adults, Safe Touch. Students learn simple rules about what to do and how to react when someone’s touch is confusing, scary, or makes the child or young person feel uncomfortable. Young people start to deal with the real risks they face when they are out in the world and on their own, and they begin to learn where to draw boundary lines in relationships. This year’s lesson will be taught in the Sunday morning class on Oct 2nd and Wednesday evening Oct 5th. Parents will receive a letter with details and an opt-out form on the first day of class.
