Initiation of Adults
This is the canonically approved process (since 1987) for initiating adults as members of the Roman Catholic church. Its multi-pronged efforts prepare:
A Gradual Process
Initiation of adults is a gradual process that takes place within the community of the faithful. Specific steps and rites mark the progress of each person in his/her faith journey. Inquiry classes are provided quarterly for interested searchers. Sessions for preparation for membership are held regularly at the Church.
Responsibility of all the Baptized
All members of the local Church should understand and show by their concern that the initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptized. (Vatican Council II, Decree on the Church’s Missionary Activity)
