St. Martha’s Circle

Our Christmas Party was attended by approximately 56 members and guests.  Good and plenty of  food as always.  Our gift exchange, as usual, had us all in stiches.  The blue hi-heel glass slippers, Father Elbano opened were a much sought after item.  He was more than happy to have them exchanged and campained for that result openly!!  Said they wouldn’t fit.  It led to a lot of laughs and much rivalry. The table poppers were filled with paper crowns and some of the silliest jokes I’ve ever heard.  Before long every one was wearing a crown and telling the jokes.  Pictures are attached.

I want to thank the Ladies (and Gents) who made this special evening come together, especially Marian Craig for coordinating this year.

Who We Are:

St Martha’s Circle is an organization of women who  pray together, provide friendship to each other and help the church and community.  St Martha’s operates the gift shop you see as you enter the church providing religious articles for the community.  The Circle also has an annual bake sale.  Monies received from our projects go to provide scholarships for St. Anne students and money for seminarians at the Oratory.  We have donated to  local  charities so they may carry on their needed work.  Our monies have also been used for several projects needed by the church.   Mary’s Prayer Grotto, vestments for the priests,  and choir robes only a few examples.

Our Projects:
Yearly projects include fruit baskets for shut-ins at Thanksgiving time, turkey for the Thanksgiving dinner at St Anne’s and the Christmas dinner at St Mary’s . Our gift basket for St. Vincent DePaul for the fall festival is always a big hit.

Meeting Schedule:
St Martha’s meets at 9am the 2nd Saturday of the month from September to May.  Our meetings consist of  prayer, bible reading, saint of the day, discussion and business meeting.  We currently are 38 members strong but are always welcoming others.   Contact Mary Lou Fellows at 803-980-6271 or Dottie Cunningham at 803-548-5981 for information.
